Uncharted Freedom finished principal photography on October 30, 2025, after over 4 months pre-production and shooting!. Six PUNC program producers learned hands-on and behind-the-scenes producing skills, and are now getting more experience in post-production. Uncharted Freedom is scheduled to being streaming in Spring, 2026.

Uncharted Freedom is a complex documentary series produced with significant participation of our Producing Unique New Creators ("PUNC") program participants, all working on their hands-on rotation of the PUNC curriculum. As in all PUNC-affiliated productions, they perform the actual function assigned to them on the production. They are learning on-the-job in a situation where they are relied upon to do their best, and where what they do will impact the success of the production. They are not alone though: they are overseen and mentored every step of the way by professional producers from the Independent Producers Guild.
PUNC is a career development and skills development program. PUNC identifies talented creators who, given the right training and opportunities, can change the world with their vision. PUNC philosophy is that there is no better way to learn a skill than to do it in-process, in an environment where you are actually being relied upon and trusted to do your best work.
Uncharted Freedom is a long form documentary project following the real-life struggle of two women who must travel to live. Their story reveals the tenuous hold which they - and by extension, each of us - have on freedom and the ability to live life on our own terms. Uncharted Freedom is an important story. In it, you will see the true impact of global politics, cultural attitudes and economics on every individual on the planet, no matter where we live.
In partnership with the producers of the show, Uncharted Freedom is staffed in part with PUNC program participants. Production supervision is provided by Diamond Shadow Productions. Vital elements of the production, including in-scene and behind-the-scenes support are provided by visionary corporate sponsors and people like you.
Uncharted Freedom will be streamed globally for free through SSI’s Virtual Theatrical program, which itself is made possible with the generous assistance of the FilmPod platform and Digital Box Office. Through the Virtual Theatrical program, SSI brings new, important ideas and artistic expressions to a world-wide audience. It advances the cultural landscape and encourages new ideas.
